A Chicken Poem

Hi Welcome back to the coop!!!

Today I am going to share with you a chicken poem:-) my little brother has a book called "Eric Carle's Animals Animals" book and it is a book of poems on all the different kinds of animals and my mom found a chicken one so without further ado I present you with "The Red Hen" Written by James S. Tippett.

She turned her head to this side;
 She turned her head to that.
Looking round for tidbits,
 Juicy ones and fat.

Scritchy-scratch went Red Hen's feet;
  Nib-nob went her bill.
She ate of juicy tidbits,
  Until she had her fill.

And then she flew into a nest
  And laid an egg, and then.
With a cut-cut-cut, ca-dah-cut,
   Flew off to eat again.

Isn't that a sweet poem??? I like it Well may the Lord bless your day,

Books on Chickens

Hi Welcome to The Chicken Coop! Today is very pretty and I love the cool weather :-) I am very excited to blog about these cool books! The first one is called "Chick Days"by: Jenna Woginrich and I really enjoy this book cause it walks you week by week on them growing up and the author  is showing us using her own chickens and how they are coming along week by week and it goes all they way till they are laying hens. I really like it :-) so if you are getting chickens I really suggest this book! Here is the picture below:  Enjoy!!!

And this one is below is called "Keeping Chickens with Ashley English" and I like this one too because it shows you the different kinds of chickens and wich ones are nice, calm, and docile and wich ones are mean, agressive, and flighty and that is nice cause if you think you want this kind of chicken but you aren't sure what their attitude is you just flipon over to chapter 2 ( I think :-) ) and right there it tells you if it is nice or mean  and that right their is nice and it also tells you what to do if your chickens get broody and a lot more things that are similar to that. Take apeek right below at the cover
Wellt hose are the two books for today I hope you enjoy!
God Bless,

Chicks? or Chickens?

Hello Welcome my Blog! Today if you are considering getting chickens and you are asking chicks? or chickens? Well that I can't answer cause its totally up to you! But.... I can give you some ups and downers about both. Okay lets talk about the goods and bads about getting fully mature Chickens Well I'll tell you the goods first here they are: 1. You know the gender 2. You get eggs right away and 3.You don't have to wait for them to mature. Okay now here's the downers 1.They may not like you as much cause they haven't known you for long 2. They probably will not like being held by you cause they don't know you as well and 3.You don't get to experience the little fuzz balls waddling around and holding them and hugging them and all that me personally would like that. :-)

Okay now to chicks here are the goods about them 1. They are cute:-) 2. You get to take care of them and watch them grow and 3.They will like you a lot more then if you got them as chicks. And now the bads 1. You don't know what gender 2. You have to check for illnesses a lot and 3. You really have to be a mommy ( daddy ) to them and make sure they don't have a sewed up bum. I am getting mine as chicks so that they will like me and people a lot better:-) although right away eggs are nice if you get chickens. Well hope you enjoyed! God Bless, Ruthie Lynn
